weep you no more sad fountains

If you've been following my blog for any length of time whatsoever,
then you are well aware of my movie obsessiveness!

Here is my newest one: "Sense and Sensibility."
 (Are you sensing a trend?)

Anyway, apart from the amazing regency fashion and sweeping English countryside,
this movie has amazing actors and a happy, heart-swelling ending that blows my mind!

Here is my favorite scene:

See if you can spot the new item in my shop that is named for one of the characters!!
I will give you mad props if you can :)

Oh, and anyone want to build me a website?
Here's what I've got so far www.whichgoose.com lame, I know !

how does my garden grow?

ORCHID (left)
CACTUS (below)

The dreary winter months are now upon us, but look at what lovely little bits of color I awoke to this morning!

I also bought a purple hyacinth from the grocery store, which will be dead in a week or two, but smells delicious ...

Oh-- and check out my mommy's blog on gardening for more spring inspiration. She does a lot of winter sowing! Read up. Learn. :)

Here are some new goodies from my shop! To be listed this week....

I'm a crazy alien!

Check out my super-dilated pupils!!

I had my long and tedious eye exam yesterday to get the hole in my retina "looked at." eww....

It's OK basically. He says the hole may cause a tear in my retina in about 20 years. So, that is something to look forward to, eh? Ha.

Glad it's all over--on to the next crisis!!

We need to call Jerry Springer.

Wow wow wow! You guys are passionate about your Mr. Darcy's!!

The official count stands ( I think) at 4 votes for Matthew, 3 votes for Colin.

The public has spoken!

I'm not sure where I stand on the issue still. I think I like Colin Firth a whole lot in "Love Actually"---and, of course, "Briget Jone's Diary" is a classic.

Matthew does bring something else to the character though. I will have to ponder more ...

Anyway, NEW TOPIC!

My new obsession is this book "Flea Market Style" by Emily Chalmers.

I LOVE her ideas--which perfectly blend my goodwill/thrift store
furnishings into a stylish decor!!! YAY!!

Check it out on Amazon here.

And here is her website here.

Vote for Mr. Darcy!

Who played it best?

Amanda W. and I have been watching "Regency House Party" during our crafting sessions lately. It's amazing, if you haven't heard. Just like "1900 House" or "Frontier House"--except it's a 1800's England and the ladies are trying to land the best man! FUN. There's even a HERMIT on the grounds!! :D

OKAY. So, in the spirit, I re-watched both the Pride & Prejudice movies (A&E TV version and newer movie version.)

I can never decide which I like better. I always lean towards the TV version, just because it's a classic. I remember watching it LIVE with my mom and her having to "translate" what was happening because it was a bit beyond my vocabulary at the time.

Then again, the movie version has AWESOME cinematography, and it really seems to capture the romance a bit more.

So, I guess it all comes down to Mr. Darcy. Who played him best? Colin Firth on TV? Or Matthew McFadyen on the Big Screen?

Let the voting commence. :)

Itching for some fresh ink.

I have tattoos. (See picture).

I think I may have blogged about them already. Hard to say...

I'm not sure why I got them all in the first place. But I know exactly at what point in my life I got them. I can remember who I was with, who I loved, what I wanted, who I thought I was.

It's all recorded on my back!

I got the compass first, then the N and S, then the angels (one at a time) then the banner. I bled, I cried, I held hands, I tried to look tough.

It started off as an old map theme...with a bit of "Moby Dick" inspiration... I don't know for sure. It's all a bit faded now, and I usually forget I have them until I catch them in the mirror or photograph, or someone says, "Hey, you have tattoos." (I know - I was there.)

So, anyway, the point of this rambling was to put out the call for a new one. I've been looking at this guy for a while (God from Milton's "Paradise Lost.") Kind of cool looking.

Then again, I've been thinking about getting something on my inner forearm. Something small but meaningful. Maybe a small vine or fern...or a goose!

Any ideas?

new glasses!!!

Yay!! New glasses!! I have been putting this off since 2003! My old glasses had a serious layer of grunge on them.

Good news, I still only have to wear them when driving, watching movies or looking at things far away.

Bad news, I have a "spot"on my retina...ew....I have to go to a specialist in the next day or two to get it checked out. YUCK. I think I may procrastinate a BIT on that, but should do it in the next few weeks.

She said it could be nothing, or maybe some trauma from my car crash that hasn't healed, or something "else."

Rich said he still will love me even if I have an eye patch. :) Yar.

The worst part of the whole experience was that stupid air they blow into your eye. I kept blinking and she had to do it like 10 times! argh.

Oh well. DONE.

Divine inspiration

I've got a pile of custom orders on my desk right now, and what am I doing? Procrastinating by writing a blog! hehe

I thought I would write a bit about inspiration for pieces. (Although sometimes, such as now, I just have to wait for them to come to me...)

These are some pages from one of my favorite books ever! "The mode in hats and headdress."

It's from 1946 and details the fashion of head wear from the 1400's up to "present."

Way cool. And lots of great ideas! This feather one on the left is seen in lots of my designs.

So, once I get a general "feel" for what I'm going for, I usually sketch something out. This one is for a wedding...very natural--with some whispy vines and pearls. Should be nice!

How did I not know about twitter?

I think I maybe am developing some sort of mania--I just get OBSESSED with things so easily now!

Today, it is TWITTER.

Upon first glance, it seems a lot like your average social networking site, however, it's WAY more fun! I love talking about myself in third person, and you pretty much do just that! You write updates about what you're doing -- whatever you are doing!

Example: (It's actually not third person...but I think I might start doing that...) " I am writing a new blog about using twitter and then writing a twitter about writing a blog about using twitter."

Did I just blow your mind!? :D

P.S. Getting new glasses on Monday! YAY. Will post pics :)

it's an addiction

If you've been wondering why I haven't written in a while, it is due to "The Office."

I just discovered that I can instantly watch it on Netflix--so, basically, that is all I have been doing!

I am now on Season 3  :D    Here is a just a sampling of the goodness:
