Obligatory Harry Potter review

If you've been following my blog, you know of my love for all things Harry Potter!

There was a point when I was sitting in the movie theatre when I realized I was surrounded my 10 year olds....

This was perhaps due to the matinee showing we went to on a Sunday afternoon. But still.

I guess the series has gone on so long that it's acceptable (sort of ) for a late-20-something to be giddy in the back row.

Ah well.

SO -- review.

In my mind, the films are considered in groups of 2.

Stone and Chamber
Azkaban and Goblet
Phoenix and Prince
then the 2 Deathly Hallows

So, in my opinion, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"  beats out all the other films when considered as a whole; but if the groupings are considered, I still think Azkaban wins.

The high point in this new installment was the acting. The actors have finally figured it out and give convincing, emotional and funny performances.

Rich and I were talking about how we wish the filmmakers held off on the series until the technology was more advanced. There is such an incongruity between them all now. It's laughable to compare the Quidditch scenes from film 1 and 6.

Also, given the mismatching of directors, there's finally a smoother ride with the continuance of David Heyman.

And yay for Dumbledore in this film. He was so much better. More like the book Dumbledore, which, after all, is what it's all about :)

Sorry if this bored any non-Potter fans! (Had to do it, you know!)

YES!! You have to see the new digs :)

And I think I know what you mean-- like, totally rushed and unemotional?

I got to "SO -- review." before I stopped reading (I'm going to go see it tonight, so didn't want to read the spoilers) but hurrah! Harry Potter!

Ahh Azkaban is my favorite movie though it's a total bummer that hardly any movies are ever as accurate as the books are. I felt they left a good deal out of this movie but the dialogue was terribly witty this time around. Super bummed that the 1st installment of DH doesn't come out till November 2010!

Yes! I can't wait to see you're new place (in person!)

And yeah I think you know what I'm talking about. And the whole cloak thing... really bothered me.
