Summer DIY project

I know everyone probably made about 100 of these in their pre-teen years. I have a distinct memory of sitting on the grass at recess making these with my little girlfriends ...

I love the idea of making something pretty out of weeds :) 

Anyways, here's how I do it ... (please share if you have a different method!)

 Start with three clovers ... preferably with loooong stems.

Braid the ends (just like you would with your hair.)

Insert the next clover in one of the braid "holes." 

Keep braiding with this new stem (making the chain longer).

Keep going with this process ... inserting a new clover and re-braiding it into the chain.

Fun day at the park!

Rich and I went to Gambrill Park this weekend --- such Beee--uuu--tiful weather!!

We swang, we climbed rocks, we took Etsy pictures!

Rich likes being my photographer! But he says he can't focus on the crowns :) hehee .. oh, stop!

Welcome to my garden

I know... sort of pathetic, but it's the best I can do right now :)

Too bad winter is coming, because I'd like it to be WAY bigger with a little table and chairs...maybe a tiny barbeque!

photo safari!

Went on an old-fashioned photo safari this morning. Used to do this with my dad sometimes when I was younger --  one time we "shot a deer" (you know, took a picture of it.) And I thought it was the funniest thing and told everyone I knew. 

So, today I went to Monocacy National Battlefield ( a Civil War battle) and Gambrill State Park (with the sweet overview and "Tea Room" building).

FUN.

Got Burger King on the way back, and am regretting it now...BUH.... I always regret it, yet I still eat it! Why is that?

Rich is in Hawaii this week. (jerk!) So, I am being super productive today AND tomorrow (two whole days to do Etsy! wheee!!) I think Rich is worried I won't want him to come back. But I do!!!! :) :)

A walk in the woods

I thought I should document my vine-procurement process.

I go to this park with a nature trail near my apartment. It's really relaxing and peaceful. Sometimes I come across another person walking their dog, but usually, I'm completely alone. I wish I could have taken a video instead; the sounds are wonderful. There are all these little birds that rustle in the brush as you pass...and the creek trickles over rocks and gurgles along...

I wish I could do this everyday.

The dreary winter months are now upon us, but look at what lovely little bits of color I awoke to this morning! 

I also bought a purple hyacinth from the grocery store, which will be dead in a week or two, but smells delicious ...

Some of you who've been following my blog for a bit know of my issues with finding vines. Seek and ye shall find!
This park that's right near my office has this super nature trail by a creek and it's LOADED. woohoo! I know it doesn't sound that exciting, but trust me, it IS!!! :D

In search of vine

This is my prey--the vine. I've officially used up all of my back stock--and now--being the city girl that I am--am forced to venture into the unknown country in search of this ever-illusive treasure.

I've mapped out a few locations in Frederick City---there's some parks---wooded areas I've noticed. Gah. 

On a happier note, I discovered a THRIFT SHOP! And today, they were have a "$5 bag sale!"

Oh yes. I got lots of goodies and my thirst for bargain hunting has again been sated.
