Come on get happy!

Sometimes, when I'm feeling mad at the world, I do a google search for "cute animals." This always yields results that make my heart melt and my teeth feel soft!

I've been trying to make myself happier lately. But I still tend to get all mad or sad when stupid little things go wrong in my life! I've decided to start taking short walks everyday (because most say this is a source of stress-relief) and also taking time to "do nothing."
My twisted self will probably count the walking time as the "nothing" time, just so I have more TIME to do other things. Ah well.

Here is the wikipedia definition of happiness:

Happiness is a state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy.[1] A variety of philosophical, religious, psychological and biologicalapproaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources.Philosophers and religious thinkers often define happiness in terms of living a good life, or flourishing, rather than simply as an emotion. Happiness in this older sense was used to translate the Greek Eudaimonia, and is still used in virtue ethics. In everyday speech today, however, terms such as well-being or quality of life are usually used to signify the classical meaning, and happiness usually refers[citation needed] to the felt experience or experiences that philosophers historically called pleasure.

AAAnyways.....

I decided to delete the last post because is was way too negatory! But thanks to everyone who commented. I will definitely think on it.

And here is a lovely drawing of me! It's by Megan Udell, and I hope she doesn't mind me using it!! Here is her Flickr photo stream-- she has lots of awesome sketches ....

And here's my friend Lauren's shop again in case you missed it: http://www.karmarocca.etsy.com She has cool chapbooks and zines (little miniature magazines!) They are super fun to collect and keep in your bathroom or something :) hehe Not that they don't belong on the bookshelf, they are just super interesting!!!

Autumn's a-coming! - ideas for the shop

I haven't done a truly "whichgoose-related" post in a while ... been so busy with the vacation and the move. And here we are, almost AUGUST. Sometimes it's good to write down your goals and ideas -- it's like saying them out loud to see if they make sense...

I had been planning, but this time of year, to have:

1.) My Christmas shopping done.
2.) My tires rotated and my oil changed.
3.) My files organized and real book-keeping implemented
4.) Quit my day job

Alas, none of these goals have come to pass.

But I remain hopeful for the final months of 2009.

Here are some business goals:

1.) Product branding  .... doing something with the logo ... magnets maybe?
2.) Line of bouquets
3.) Line of smaller flower-girl crowns and accessories.
4.) Make-your-own boutonniere listing (Like, a $20 flat fee with a bunch of options??)

And personal goals:

1.) Make time for friends.
2.) Make time for exercise/eat better.
3.) Stress out less.

I'll think of this as an early start for a 2010 resolution. Gotta stay ahead of the game! :)

Deliver us from evil

I've been lusting after these plates from trixiedelicious for a while now. Aren't they so cheeky! She also has the "Seven Heavenly Virtues" set, but they are both sold out at the moment! sniff sniff!

Anyway, I've been on this kick of trying to better myself since I've moved into the new place. You know, a new start and all that.

But, it's really hard! I guess the first step I've mastered is guilt. Now, when I think badly about someone who is making my life difficult,I get a little twinge---a pause-- of regret. Guilt is good.

It's so hard to be a good person, really. I guess I should rephrase that. I consider most people to be mostly good ... but to be void of any bad characteristics is nearly impossible, I suppose.

It's just human.

No matter though, I am trying my hardest to be better, and not talk badly about people, or give rude hand gestures when driving, or allow other people to make me feel bad. Because, after all, when you are happy, you make other people happy!

Does anyone watch "Intervention?"

I don't think I've blogged about it before, but If you've never seen it, you should really check it out! It's on Monday night's at 9 p.m. on A&E. Really gripping stuff. Makes you think your life isn't so bad compared to all these recovering addicts.

But I guess we all have a bit of that darkness inside.

OH!!

Almost forgot.

Here is a badly drawn example of my new logo, I think.

Any thoughts? Like it or no?

THANKS! :) --Emily

p.s. Sale coming soon I think!!! Gotta get some more goodies made up in the meantime though :) :) -

Obligatory Harry Potter review

If you've been following my blog, you know of my love for all things Harry Potter!

There was a point when I was sitting in the movie theatre when I realized I was surrounded my 10 year olds....

This was perhaps due to the matinee showing we went to on a Sunday afternoon. But still.

I guess the series has gone on so long that it's acceptable (sort of ) for a late-20-something to be giddy in the back row.

Ah well.

SO -- review.

In my mind, the films are considered in groups of 2.

Stone and Chamber
Azkaban and Goblet
Phoenix and Prince
then the 2 Deathly Hallows

So, in my opinion, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"  beats out all the other films when considered as a whole; but if the groupings are considered, I still think Azkaban wins.

The high point in this new installment was the acting. The actors have finally figured it out and give convincing, emotional and funny performances.

Rich and I were talking about how we wish the filmmakers held off on the series until the technology was more advanced. There is such an incongruity between them all now. It's laughable to compare the Quidditch scenes from film 1 and 6.

Also, given the mismatching of directors, there's finally a smoother ride with the continuance of David Heyman.

And yay for Dumbledore in this film. He was so much better. More like the book Dumbledore, which, after all, is what it's all about :)

Sorry if this bored any non-Potter fans! (Had to do it, you know!)

MOVING!! AHH!!

I had no idea I was so fashionable! This nice lady from this blog: inventingweddings made my comb into a really stylish idea!! :) hehe I especially love that ring at the bottom. She has a rundown of where you can buy stuff at her blog.

Anyway, the real reason I am writing this blog:

NO INTERNET TILL FRIDAY!! Ah!! The official move-in is taking place and the cable guy is coming then (between the hours of 8 and 5 haha). SO, what this means for you:

1.) If you purchase something, I won't be able to mail it out until MONDAY.
2.) If you ask me a question, I won't be able to answer it until FRIDAY.

Thanks for understanding! I will be soooooooo happy when all this is taken care of and I can get down to some serious Etsy business again :)
